Instructor’s profile

Dr. QIAN Duoxiu obtained her PhD in Translation Studies from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her main research interests include translation studies in the Chinese context, corpus-based translation studies, and translation technology.

Course goals

This course aims to introduce the basics of news trans-editing through intensive practices. Students are expected to be familiar with practices in main-stream news media and able to do trans-editing of texts on current affairs on various topics.

Topics

Topics covered in this course are various as the course title implies that a wide range of news stories and reports will be dealt with.

Assessment

Participation and assignments (30%) + Mid-term (20%) + Final exam (50%)
